Recall always keeps a local SwiftData store. We do not operate an account or app server and have no access to your records. Optional iCloud sync is off by default; if you enable it, eligible records use the private CloudKit database in your Apple account.

It can. Turn on private iCloud sync in Recall's Settings on devices signed into the same Apple account. The setting is off by default, and Recall shows the latest sync/error state. If CloudKit cannot start, Recall keeps the local store available. Local backup files remain the recommended independent safety copy.

The Watch app can start and control a walk, show live elapsed time and distance, and log Pee, Poop, Water, or Treat events; offline actions queue until the paired iPhone reconnects. Completed walks can be added to Apple Health manually, or automatically after a separate opt-in. Recall requests write-only Health access and does not read your Health data.

Yes. Enable App Lock in Settings to require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Recall also places a privacy cover over sensitive content in the app switcher. Biometric matching is handled by iOS; Recall never receives your biometric data.

Trip Reports package selected pet-care activity for a date range into a versioned share link. They exclude photos and client details and simplify any included walk route. Recipients can review the report in a browser or import it into Recall without duplicating records. Treat the link as private and send it only to intended recipients.

Yes, two ways. The simplest is Recall's own backup: go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Backup & Restore, tap "Back Up Now" (optionally including photos), save the file to iCloud Drive or Files, then on the new phone use "Restore from Backup File." Your data also transfers when you restore the new phone from a standard iCloud or computer backup, or transfer directly from your old device during setup. Either way, make sure a backup exists before wiping the old phone.

Go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Backup & Restore. "Back Up Now" creates a single backup file with every pet, walk, health record, and client — with or without photos — that you can save to Files, iCloud Drive, or anywhere else you choose. Recall also keeps automatic daily snapshots on your device (the most recent 14) as protection against accidental changes; you can restore any of them from the same screen. Backup files are created on your device and only go where you send them — we never see them.

Yes. Recall includes a Next Dose widget (small), a Today at a Glance widget (medium — medications, meals, and walks for today, plus a low-supply alert), and a lock screen Next Dose widget. Long-press your home or lock screen, tap the add-widget button, and search for Recall. If you've turned off pet names in notifications, widgets respect the same privacy setting.

Add supplies (food, litter, treats, meds on hand) in the Care tab and log level updates as you use them. Once Recall has seen real usage over a few days, it forecasts when you'll run out ("≈ 12 days left") and can notify you when an item drops below your threshold or is about a week from running out. Recall deliberately shows no forecast until it has enough history to be honest about it.

No. Recall is built offline-first. All features work without internet, including GPS walk tracking (GPS uses satellite signals, not internet). A connection is only needed for App Store purchases and for loading map imagery.

Recall offers a 10-day free trial with access to every feature. After the trial, you can still view all your existing data, but you'll need to make a one-time purchase of $9.99 to continue adding new entries and using features like GPS walk tracking. This is a single payment — there is no subscription and no recurring charges.

Go to Settings within the app and tap "Restore Purchase." This will re-activate your full access using your Apple ID. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

Recall uses your device's built-in GPS with advanced filtering to provide accurate walk routes. Accuracy depends on your environment — open areas provide the best results, while dense urban areas or heavy tree cover may reduce accuracy slightly. For best results, keep your phone in a pocket or armband rather than a deep bag. If a route looks inaccurate, you can delete and re-log the walk manually.

No. Location is recorded only during active walk tracking that you explicitly start. When you end a walk, location tracking stops immediately. Recall never records, stores, or transmits your location outside of walks you initiate. You can verify this in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Location Services > Recall.

Go to Analytics and tap the "Export Data" button. You can export all records for a specific pet as a CSV file (for spreadsheets) or a formatted PDF report. The PDF includes the pet's profile, active medications, vaccination status, weight history, and recent vet visits — perfect for handing to a new vet or pet sitter.

Pro Mode is designed for professional pet sitters, dog walkers, and anyone who cares for other people's pets. It lets you manage clients, track their pets separately from your own, log visits with service checklists, and generate walk report cards to share with pet owners. Pro Mode is included in the same $9.99 one-time purchase — no separate subscription needed.

Yes. All client data is stored on your device. Sensitive information like home access codes is encrypted. We never have access to any client data. Walk report cards are generated on your device and shared only when you choose to send them.

You can delete individual records (pets, walks, medications, health entries, clients, visits, and more) from within the app at any time. To remove all data at once, go to Settings and use the "Delete All Local Data" option, or delete the app from your device. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Recall requires iOS 18 or later. It runs on both iPhone and iPad as a universal app.
