Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 2, 2026

Recall is local-first. Your pet data stays on your device unless you explicitly enable private iCloud sync, export to Apple Health, create a backup, or share a report. Fourteener Labs does not collect, sell, or host your personal information.

Data Storage & Collection

All data you enter into Recall — including pet profiles, walk routes, medication records, health logs, feeding schedules, grooming tasks, activity logs, supply levels, expenses, photos, and Pro Mode client information — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

Recall does not operate an account or application server and Fourteener Labs has no access to your records. Optional iCloud sync is off by default. If you enable it, eligible records sync through Apple's private CloudKit database associated with your iCloud account; Fourteener Labs does not receive or administer that database.

Data is collected only through your direct manual input within the app (such as adding a pet, logging a walk, or taking a photo) and, optionally, through your device's location services and camera when you grant permission. Recall does not collect data passively, automatically, or in the background beyond active GPS walk tracking that you explicitly initiate.

Data We Do Not Collect

Recall does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following to our servers or any third party:

Location Services

Recall uses your device's GPS to track walk routes when you explicitly start a walk. Location data is recorded only during active walk tracking and is stored locally on your device. Recall never transmits your location to us, and never to any advertising or analytics service. When you generate a walk report card, Recall asks Apple Maps to render a static map image of the route; to do so, the route's map region is processed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. Aside from that, your location stays on your device.

Recall also requests background location access so that walk tracking can continue while the app is in the background during an active walk — for example, when your phone is in your pocket or you switch to another app. Location captured during an active walk, including while the app is in the background, becomes part of the saved walk route stored on your device. Background location is never used outside of a walk you have started, and tracking stops when you end the walk.

You can revoke location access at any time through your device's Settings. The app will continue to function for all non-walk features without location access.

Camera & Photo Access

Recall may request access to your camera for capturing pet photos during walks, creating pet profile pictures, and scanning veterinary documents. Recall may also request access to your photo library for selecting existing images. All images are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers or shared externally.

Backups

Recall can create a backup file of your data (Settings > Data & Privacy > Backup & Restore). Backup files are generated entirely on your device and contain your full Recall data — including photos and attachments if you choose to embed them, and Pro Mode client information if you use Pro Mode. When you share or save a backup file (to Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, etc.), that transfer is handled by iOS and is entirely under your control; we never receive or have access to your backups. Treat backup files as sensitive — anyone with the file can restore your data into their copy of Recall.

Recall also keeps automatic daily backup snapshots (data only, no photos) in the app's private storage on your device. These never leave your device, are limited to the most recent 14, can be turned off in the same settings screen, and are removed along with all other app data when you delete the app.

Optional iCloud Sync

iCloud sync is off by default and requires an explicit choice in Settings. When enabled, Recall uses Apple's CloudKit to synchronize eligible app records through the private database in your iCloud account under Apple's Privacy Policy. The app displays recent sync status and falls back to its local store if CloudKit cannot start. Standard iOS device backups may also include Recall data.

Apple Health

Recall can add completed walking workouts, distance, and route data to Apple Health after you grant permission. Recall requests write-only access and does not read your Health data. Manual export is the default; automatic export is a separate opt-in. Health data is managed by Apple and your device under your Health and iCloud settings, and Fourteener Labs cannot access it.

Apple Watch

The optional Apple Watch companion exchanges the selected pet, walk status, distance, and quick care events with the paired iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. Pending actions may be queued for later delivery when the devices reconnect. A small private App Group snapshot supports the complication. This information is not sent to Fourteener Labs.

App Lock & Screen Privacy

You may enable Recall's app lock, which uses Apple's LocalAuthentication APIs (Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode). Recall never receives biometric data. When privacy protection is active, Recall covers sensitive content in the app switcher and while authentication is required.

Pro Mode & Client Data

If you use Recall's Pro Mode for professional pet sitting or dog walking, client information you enter (names, addresses, phone numbers, emergency contacts, and home access details) is stored locally on your device. Sensitive information such as home access codes is encrypted on your device. We do not have access to any client data you enter. When you enter a client's address and Recall places it on a map, the address is sent to Apple Maps for geocoding and map rendering; Apple processes it under Apple's Privacy Policy, and we never receive it.

Walk report cards and Trip Reports are created only when you choose to share them. Trip Reports include selected care activity and may include a simplified walk route, but exclude photos and client details. A report link carries the encoded report in the URL and may be opened on the Fourteener Labs website for in-browser review; the static website does not import it into an account, but the hosting and messaging services used to deliver/open the link may process standard request metadata. Share links only with intended recipients.

In-App Purchases

Recall offers an optional in-app purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or purchase history. All transactions are governed by Apple's privacy policy and terms of service.

Siri Shortcuts

Recall offers Siri Shortcuts that access your pet data stored on your device. This data never leaves your device and is used only to perform actions you have configured, such as logging medications or starting walks. No data is transmitted externally through Siri Shortcuts.

Home & Lock Screen Widgets

Recall's widgets (next medication dose, today's care summary) display data from a small summary file the app shares with its widget extension through a private App Group container on your device. This data never leaves your device. If you have disabled pet names in notifications, widgets honor the same setting and show generic labels instead. Keep in mind that, like any widget, information you choose to display on your lock screen is visible to anyone who can see your locked phone.

Crash & Hang Diagnostics

Apple's MetricKit may provide Recall with diagnostic payloads after a crash, hang, or excessive disk-write event. Recall stores a pending diagnostic file on your device for up to 48 hours and asks before sharing it. Nothing is automatically sent to Fourteener Labs; you can review, share, dismiss, or discard the report.

Third-Party Services

Recall does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Firebase, or ad networks in the app. Apple services used by optional or system features include the App Store, Apple Maps, iCloud/CloudKit, HealthKit, MetricKit, LocalAuthentication, notifications, widgets, and WatchConnectivity; these are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The Fourteener Labs website is hosted through GitHub Pages.

Data Retention & Deletion

Fourteener Labs does not retain your app records on its servers. Local records persist for as long as the app is installed and you choose to keep them. If you enable iCloud sync, copies may persist in your private iCloud database according to your Apple account and CloudKit retention behavior. Apple Health exports remain in Health until you remove them there.

You can delete individual records — such as pets, walks, medications, health records, feedings, grooming tasks, activity logs, photos, clients, or visits — at any time from within the app. You can also use the "Delete All Local Data" option in the app's Settings to permanently remove all Recall data from your device.

If you delete the Recall app from your device, all locally stored data — including automatic backup snapshots — is permanently removed. If your device backups (iCloud or computer) include Recall, copies of your data may persist inside those backups until the backups themselves are updated or deleted. Backup files you exported yourself persist wherever you saved them and are yours to keep or delete.

Your Rights & Consent

You have full control over your data and any permissions granted to Recall:

Recall has no Fourteener Labs account to close and no Fourteener Labs-hosted record store. Data management happens through the app, your Apple Health settings, and your iCloud account when those optional integrations are used.

Children's Privacy

Recall is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from minors.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
